Hands-On Learning in Our University Forest
成人直播鈥檚 363-acre forest provides an expansive and contiguous natural laboratory. Here, students and faculty engage in essential environmental research just a short walk from the Biddeford Campus.
The State of Maine Natural Areas Program has labeled the land a habitat of significant value due to its high density of pocket swamps and more than a hundred vernal pools. The area contains uplands and wetlands and is home to many species, including wild turkeys, deer, coyotes, moose, frogs, turtles, and salamanders.
As a student in the School of Marine and Environmental Programs, the forest allows you to participate in research related to woodland birds, vernal pools, wildlife, plants, climate change, and more.
Vernal Pool Research in the Forest
The 363 acres is basically an outdoor classroom. It鈥檚 really helpful to just have wildlife and nature right outside our door 鈥 it鈥檚 the perfect learning environment.鈥
