Occupational Studies/Pre-OT

Meghan is currently taking advantage of ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥'s Tangier Campus, including volunteering at an orphanage, visiting the biggest psychiatric hospital in Morocco and meeting with the head psychiatrist, and visiting a senior center/orphanage and a university in the capital of Rabat — all offered specifically to Health, Wellness and Occupational Studies students.

About her time in Morocco, Meghan said, "I love it here so much, we have been exploring the country and learning about the culture a lot, and also volunteering weekly at an orphanage at one of the local hospitals. Through my Health, Wellness and Occupational Studies classes we have been looking a lot at the various occupations that people engage in over here in Morocco, and how they differ from occupations in America (eating, dressing, social interaction)."

"The thing that drew me to Health, Wellness and Occupational Studies, besides the set up for graduate school in Occupational Therapy, was its holistic approach to wellness and paying equal attention in the curriculum to the physical aspects of the body but also the psychological aspects. This past spring I shadowed at South Ridge, a living and rehabilitation center in downtown Biddeford. I observed occupational therapists and physical therapists there complete treatment programs and learned about the evaluation process and some of the paperwork and how the system at their facility worked."
