“Having been a transfer student, I have had experiences with other colleges and the way the professors interact with their students. Without any hesitation I can say that the University Of New England has some of the best professors on staff.  In part the smaller class sizes make it easier to have a one on one relationship with your professors, but all in all it’s the caring nature of the professors that shows they truly want you to succeed. The Department of Psychology has engaging professors that are always willing to lend a hand and are accommodating to even the busiest of schedules.

"My favorite courses all had an independent research aspect and that’s truly what made them special. My senior year, the highlight of my course work was spending long nights on the Smiling Hill Farm in Portland conducting cognition experiments on their dairy cattle. My partner and I compiled our research and discovered the capabilities of cattle to remember specific rewards associated with color cues as well as location based rewards. This paid off when my partner and I won the best presentation award at the 2013 College of Arts and Sciences Student Research and Scholarship Symposium.

"After Graduation I had received numerous job offers ranging from working with the New York ASPCA to local zoos. I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in taking care of sick animals and work as a Veterinary Technician. I have been working at the Dix Hills Animal Hospital now for a little over a year now and each day I am reminded that I made the perfect career choice. As a Veterinary Technician I am responsible for the safety and well-being of the patients in the hospital, as well as having skills in surgical procedures, radiology, dental cleaning, and urgent task management. Seeing the satisfaction in our clients’ eyes when we are able to help their pets is one of the most gratifying feelings someone in this field can have.

"I cannot thank my professors enough for the confidence they have instilled in me during my time at the ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥. Because of all of you and all of your wisdom I was able to make the most out of my time at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ and create the future I have always wanted; I am forever grateful!â€
