COM student selected as a recipient of highly competitive James McKenney Travel Award
Christine Lee, a second-year student in the 成人直播 College of Osteopathic Medicine (成人直播 COM), is one of only 10 students from the United States and internationally to be selected for the highly competitive James McKenney Travel Award by the Association for Gerontology/Geriatrics in Higher Education (AGHE).
The funding for this award is the result of a planned giving gift by James McKenney, who was born in Maine and resided there for most of his life. McKenney highly valued education and established a planned giving gift for AGHE through Marilyn R. Gugliucci, Ph.D., professor and director of Geriatrics Education and Research at 成人直播 COM and former AGHE president.
Twenty percent of McKenney鈥檚 estate was donated upon his death in 2015 to advance student education on aging.
Lee will receive a one-year membership to the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), student registration for the GSA annual meeting, entrance to a pre-conference workshop, a ticket for the AGHE breakfast and awards presentation, and a $558 travel stipend.
Lee鈥檚 award will be announced at the online AGHE business meeting on October 26 and presented to her at the AGHE annual scientific meeting in Phoenix, Arizona on November 12.
