Nutrition tips to stay healthy through the cold winter months

The winter can be a difficult time for people to make healthy choices, but 成人直播 Nutrition student Aly LeBlanc and Assistant Clinical Professor Anne-Marie Davee say eating the right foods can help you to feel better and stay healthy during the coldest months of the year.

They were interviewed on NEWS CENTER Maine鈥檚 鈥207,鈥 where they talked about what to eat, and how to eat, to feel better. LeBlanc recommended starting meals with raw vegetables or salad and eating slowly, because it takes the brain about 20 minutes to acknowledge fullness. She also recommended snacking on fruit. 鈥淲hole fruits are full of lots of nutrients, especially fiber, vitamin A and C and potassium and these nutrients are really good to keep you healthy in the winter time and to make sure you鈥檙e maintaining bodily fluids,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e also high in natural sugar so that鈥檚 going to help keep our energy up and curb those cravings we might get.鈥

Davee talked about the importance of eating foods that are high in vitamin D in the winter to make up for the lack of exposure to sunlight. She recommended eating seafood twice a week, and said some juices and milk are also fortified with vitamin D.
