Leading Libyan newspaper ‘al Wasat’ interviews ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥â€™s Ali Ahmida
On April 1, 2017, Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Political Science, was interviewed by the editorial board of al Wasat, the leading Arabic-language website and newspaper of Libya.
In the conversation, Ahmida provided background on the roots of the current crisis of transition in Libya since 2011. He addressed three key points: the failure of the leadership, the outside negative role in the Libyan civil war and the still missing compromise from both west and east factions.
Ahmida argued that Libya is not a failed state, but rather a failed transition caused by both the current leaders and the outside intervention including that of the Obama administration. He stated that a new transition is needed and that the model of Libyan elite in the 1940s is a good model to follow for making compromises for the sake of unity and the rule of law and citizenship.
The interview, which received wide readership, was republished in Libya almostaqbal, Libya News, Asrar and The Maghreb News both inside and outside of Libya.
