Steven Byrd contributes children鈥檚 story to volume produced by Brazilian literacy project
Steven Byrd, Ph.D., associate professor of Spanish and Portuguese, was recently profiled on the website of the Literary Council of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. The website highlights books written about or published in the state.
Byrd was featured for his contribution last month to an edited volume of children鈥檚 stories created by the Minas Gerais Children鈥檚 Literacy Project, which aims to improve literacy and stimulate reading in Minas Gerais. It distributes 10,000 free books to children and adults in the city of Belo Horizonte every September. This year's book is titled Hist贸rias Malucas de Crian莽as, Bichos e Algumas Assombra莽玫es (Crazy Stories about Children, Animals and Hauntings).
Byrd鈥檚 story, 鈥淎 Aventura da Tazi鈥 (鈥淭azi鈥檚 Adventure鈥), which was selected by the book鈥檚 editors, is about a cat named Tazi that gets out of the house, becomes lost and is then found.
