成人直播 Histology and Imaging Core manager publishes histology protocol with Corning Inc.
Peter Caradonna 鈥13, B.S., manager of the Histology and Imaging Core at the 成人直播, has been working with Corning, Inc. to develop histological processing methods for some of the company鈥檚 cell culture products called Transwell庐 membrane inserts.
Transwell庐 inserts are described as convenient and easy-to-use filter insert systems for growing a variety of cell types in culture. The Histology and Imaging Core was contacted by Corning, located in Kennebunk, Maine, to develop a reliable and reproducible method for processing and imaging cells grown in Transwell庐 inserts of various plastic compositions. Caradonna took the lead on the project and was able to work with Corning to develop a universal protocol that can be applied to any Transwell庐 membrane composition.
Histology and Imaging Core Director Amy Davidoff, Ph.D., said, 鈥淐orning approached us because their customers reported processing difficulties with certain membrane/solvent combinations. Caradonna utilized his expertise in histology and chemistry to optimize the appropriate solutions for each filter material, and confirmed his protocol by processing, sectioning, staining and imaging cells grown on the Transwell庐 inserts. Caradonna's work is exceptional and is featured in the company鈥檚 protocol.鈥
The Histology and Imaging Core is supported by a Center of Biomedical Research Excellence grant (NIGMS grant number P20GM103643) at the 成人直播.
