Ali Ahmida gives lecture on post Gadhafi Libya at University of Minnesota
Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Political Science, gave a lecture on April 3, 2015, at the University of Minnesota, as part of its Coffee Hour Spring Series. Sponsored by the Department of Geography, Environment and Society, the talk was titled "The Crisis of Transition in Post Gadhafi鈥檚 Libya."
Ahmida addressed four main issues: the nature of the political geography of the civil war in Libya and the main actors who made the collation that overthrew the old regime; the causes of the civil war and the struggle for legitimacy claimed by the two governments in Tripoli and Tubreq; the role played by regional and international actors in the conflict; and the future scenarios for the country.
Ahmida also met with several University of Minnesota graduate students during his visit to discuss their research.
