Teresa Dzieweczynski and three students publish in ‘Hormones and Behavior’

Teresa Dzieweczynski, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Psychology, published an article in the current issue of Hormones and Behavior.

“Acute exposure to 17α-ethinylestradiol alters boldness behavioral syndrome in female Siamese fighting fish” has three student co-authors. This is the first publication for Brennah Campbell (Psychology ’16) and the second for Brittney Logan (Animal Behavior ’16) and Jodi Marks (Animal Behavior ’16) from their time working with Dzieweczynski.

The work was funded by ֱ mini-grant from the Vice President of Research and Scholarship Office.

This study was the first to find that the behavior of female fish could be affected by exposure to an estrogen mimic.   It opens important new venues for future research, as it was previously thought that females were relatively resistant to the effects of these compounds.
