³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ faculty member Judith Kimball’s poster presented at the Blast Injury Conference
Judith G. Kimball, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, professor and founder of the Department of Occupational Therapy in the Westbrook College of Health Professions, will present a poster on her ongoing research project at the 8th Annual Blast Injury Conference on Dec. 14, 2011 in Tampa, Fla. The poster is entitled, “Establishing the Prevalence of Sensory Processing Disorder in Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury."
Kimball is the co-principal investigator and author of this project. The principal investigator is Frederica Guzzetta, MOT, OTR/L, a full-time occupational therapist at the James A. Haley Veterans Administration Hospital in Tampa, Fla. The early stages of this project involved two occupational therapy students who graduated in May 2011, Casey Nightingale, MSOTS and Cori Goodwin, MSOTS.
The Blast Injury Conference is a meeting held yearly in Tampa, Fla. where participants learn about the most current research findings and best practices relevant to blast-induced traumatic brain injury assessment, treatment and rehabilitation from the perspectives of the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs and the private sector. This event is hosted by the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) and the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center.
