Marc Ebenfield, Ph.D. Director, CETL and Shannon Zlotkowski, M.S., Assistant Provost for Community and Belonging will facilitate a discussion on the intersectionality between national IPEC competencies and Community and Belonging.
This 75-minute workshop is a collaboration between CAIEP, ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥â€™s Office of DEI, the Patient Advocacy Advisory Team, and CETL. It will include the following aims:
• Describe the intersectionality between IPECP and Community and Belonging (this will include a brief overview of the new IPEC 2023 competencies that emphasize social justice and equity)
• Identify ways to integrate Community and Belonging and social drivers into IP activities and vice versa.
• Acknowledge inherent hierarchy in health education and practice and discuss how to address power dynamics and microaggressions that occur in teams
• Offer methods to address difficult conversations in the IP/Community and Belonging space.
